Example of application server architecture

OLAP application server with both thin Web-client and full-scale custom program access.

This client-server system provides interactive Web access to the MS SQL Server and/or OLAP database. (Win NT/2000/XP/2003 platform, MS SQL Server, IIS).

The thin client runs under browser (IE or Mozilla) and dynamically generates HTML code and Java-scripts from acquired XML.

The server side consists of data access service, data access and visualization ActiveX controls (dynamic Charts, Tables, Trees, VRML...) and ASP(X) code which is used for the dynamic generation of XML and/or DHTML pages.

The system is build from the set of independent modules, which can be tuned to satisfy customer's requests. There are:
dynamic chart control; table (pivot table) control; 3D chart (VRML) control; tree control; query builder control; expert controls for the data domain support; data access service and configuration controls.
